Based in Terrace, B.C., this 100% locally owned company has been operating in the North Coast region for over 40 years.  Bear Creek Contracting Ltd. & Weewané Trading are supported by an extensive inventory of equipment including grapple yarders, tank drills, excavators, boom boats, camp accommodation barges, crawlers, loaders, rock trucks, logging trucks, low beds and various other support equipment.  With a diverse knowledge of the businesses and geography of the north coast Bear Creek Contracting Ltd. has expanded it's services over the years to include:

- road engineering & building, deactivation, reactivation
- expediting services by barge and road
- support for mining exploration
- camp accommodation & catering services
- full phase logging & forestry engineering
- large mechanical shop

Both companies are owned and operated by George Munson and his son Ian.

Logging & Sawmilling Journal September 2000 and  December/January 2003 listed Bear Creek Contracting Ltd. among British Columbia's top 10 coastal logging contractors.

In 1995 the Munson’s expanded into the air charter business with the opening of Lakelse Air, which currently operates eight helicopters. With their operations expanding into isolated coastal areas, the importance of being mobile became apparent. Consequently a decision was made in 1997 to build a sixty man fully self contained float camp. This camp plus a smaller twenty man float camp have provided them with the ability to work effectively on the coast.

In the 1980's Munson’s diversified into the hotel business with the purchase of the Northern Motor Inn, and more recently, the Bear Country Inn.  Both hotels are fully serviced and located in the Terrace area. George’s wife Gail and daughter Jacqueline manage the hotels.

Bear Creek Contracting Ltd. in conjunction with the associated companies is a major contributor to the yearly economy of the North Coast. This has been achieved by patronizing local suppliers and supporting a payroll of almost three hundred people when running at regular capacity.
